Where the Mothers

“Where the Mothers” takes inspiration from “ Remains of Elmet”, a collection of poems by Ted Hughes and photographs by Fay Godwin. 

With Architectural references held within organic forms these works are my response to ideas of how our landscapes bear witness to what has come before, evidence of past stories as Mother Nature endures with a constant momentum of transformation and renewal.

 The use of 24ct gold leaf in the ‘tunnels’ is due to its light reflecting qualities and creates a warm glow coming from the inside.  This draws the viewer in while also representing the precious and sacred relationship we have with the Mother Earth and all the knowledge she holds within.
